WAKE UP DEAD UNLEASHES NEW FRONTMAN: ANDY MITCHELL TAKES THE HELM AS DAVE MUSTAINE
BUFFALO, NY - June 17, 2026 - The premier Megadeth tribute band, Wake Up Dead, has officially announced the addition of powerhouse vocalist and guitarist Andy Mitchell as their new frontman. Stepping directly into the iconic role of thrash metal pioneer Dave Mustaine, Mitchell brings the precise combination of whiplash-inducing speed, technical precision, and venomous vocal delivery required to command the stage.
Taking on the monumental dual challenge of Mustaine’s intricate rhythm work and signature snarl, the new frontman Andy Mitchell delivers a ferocious, clinical authenticity. Fueled by a lifelong obsession with Megadeth’s golden trilogy—Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction, and Youthanasia—he effortlessly locks down the complex, odd-meter riffs of "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" while delivering the cynical, razor-sharp lyrics of "Symphony of Destruction."
"This isn't just a tribute—it’s a masterclass in thrash metal history, delivered with the exact same chip-on-the-shoulder intensity that built the Cyber Army."
A Proven Weapon in the Live Circuit
Before embracing his role in Wake Up Dead, the destined vocalist Andy Mitchell spent years commanding stages across the region as the lead singer and guitarist for the prominent Buffalo, NY rock outfit, Sixpin. Find Sixpin on Instagram @sixpinofficial, on YouTube at sixpin, and on Spotify.
That tenure sharpening high-energy, original heavy rock proved to be the ultimate proving ground. The years spent balancing intricate live fretwork with commanding lead vocals in Sixpin laid the exact foundation needed to replicate Mustaine’s notoriously difficult, high-velocity dual-threat performance style.
What to Expect from the New Era of Wake Up Dead:
Clinical Accuracy: From the snarling vocal cadences down to the precise, aggressive down-picking and flying-V swagger.
The Golden Era Setlist: High-octane executions of tracks from the absolute peak of Megadeth's commercial and creative power.
Unapologetic Energy: The speed, snarl, and absolute authority that thrash purists demand.
Wake Up Dead is currently locking in dates for their upcoming tour cycle. Promoters and fans alike can prepare for a high-voltage live experience that honors the legacy of one of the "Big Four" with zero compromises.
